12 JIM BONES MACKAY INDUCTED INTO THE CADDIE HALL OF FAME Longtime PGA TOUR caddie and NBC Sports Golf Channel on course reporter Jim Bones Mackay was inducted into The Caddie Hall of Fame during the 2017 BMW Championship The Caddie Hall of Fame highlights the tradition and importance of caddying by recognizing individuals who have devoted their lives to the game of golf through caddying or by supporting the role of caddies Legendary caddie managers Joe Barreiro of Sleepy Hollow Country Club in New York and Eddie Barr of The Beverly Country Club in Illinois were also inducted in 2017 TOP HONORS OF THE YEAR Indiana University Evans Scholar AJ Gauthier was named Evans Scholar of the Year at the annual Summer Outing banquet in June The award is the top honor a student can receive within the Evans Scholars Program The Northwestern Evans Scholars chapter was recognized for achieving the highest cumulative GPA with a 35 for the 2016 17 academic year The Donald D Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to ESF Trustees Tom Horwich and John Kretzschmar who have served as longtime leaders of the Western Golf Association and Evans Scholars Foundation Congratulations to all WGA INTRODUCES CADDIE PROGRAM AT CHICAGOS HISTORIC JACKSON PARK GOLF COURSE This past summer the WGA established a caddie program at the historic Jackson Park Golf Course on the south side of Chicago in partnership with The First Tee of Greater Chicago and the Chicago Parks Golf Alliance The Jackson Park Golf Course built in 1899 along Lake Michigan is part of a proposed redevelopment plan that could redefine golf in Chicago The caddie program is part of a broader push by the WGA and other leading golf organizations called Carry the Game which aims to expand caddie programs around the nation and help develop lifelong players as a way to grow and sustain the game of golf for future generations 2 0 1 7 H I G H L I G H T S
